Huachen: We have an interesting job and it is a great pleasure to do it! We manufacture hydraulic cylinders, which is a sort of machine that helps move objects, powered by the force of fluids. We make all kinds of cylinders, from the ones used to lift cars to ones used in construction and portable equipment!
Once you walk into our factory, the first thing you will notice is how much big! A lot of people are working hard day after day to make sure all of this stuff is running smoothly. We’ve got really smart engineers designing the cylinders on computers. They imagine how the cylinders are supposed to look and how they’re meant to function. And then we have machinists that will put into big machines to shape the metal. They deal with big bits of metal and ensure that they are molded accurately. And finally we have technicians, the detectives of the factory. They test the finished products to ensure that everything works properly and safely before it leaves the company to go to customers.
The process starts with large sheets of metal, which go into a machine that cuts and shapes it to size. It is a super powerful machine that can slice thick metal. We feed the metal into a second machine that heats it and bends it to create the proper shape. Heating the metal causes it to soften so it’s more pliable. Now all we need is the right shape, so we will run the data through different machines and then create threads, in the form of small spirals and then assemble them all back together into an actual hydraulic cylinder.
When you get to see behind the wall at our telescopic hydraulic cylinder, you will see many people doing individual jobs to keep everything running smoothly. Everyone has an important role to have. Engineers design things on computers; machinists forge the metal with massive machines; and testers check to see if everything works. It is like a wholistic team where everyone supports everyone!
We have a large warehouse room where we store all the components to build the cylinders. This warehouse is chock-full of treasure! We have metal pipes, seals, bolts, nuts, and they are all organized together on size and shape. It’s just easier for us to find the parts when we’re building a new cylinder.” Each thing has its specific place so we can work quickly & efficiently to accommodate our busy schedule.
Engineers design effective and safe. They employ a special computer program and utilize it for the making and testing of the designs before we actually start making the cylinders. But this program lets them see how that cylinder will work even before the cylinder is made up. After your design is complete and approved we start to build the cylinders in the factory with lots of machines and tools. Each machine serves a function, and all of them contribute to our ability to produce quality products.
